A Mighty Drum Roll, Please, for Oz The Great And Powerful

New poster art for Disney’s OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL
Likely, you best remember actor Frank Morgan's portrayal of "Oz" in the 1939 "Wizard of Oz" film... but Oscar Zoroaster Phadrig Isaac Norman Henkel Emmannuel Ambroise Diggs, the fictional character created by author L. Frank Baum, has appeared in multiple films, books, cartoons, video games, and even a Broadway musical.

He has yet, though, to have a dedicated moment in the spotlight to tell the full tale of the Great and Powerful Oz and how he came to the most trusted of leaders in the land of Oz.

Until now.

Disney’s fantastical adventure “Oz The Great and Powerful,” directed by Sam Raimi, will light up theater screens March 8, 2013, whisking us back to the Emerald City.

When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting.

Life on the yellow brick road ain't that easy, though, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late...

I love it when back-story stories get their day in the sun and secondary characters have a chance to thrive.  Are you excited to see Oz have his own screen time?  Stay tuned, we'll be sure to keep you updated!

    1. I hear you! No matter how in tune I am with things, too, they still have likely heard about it before I have. But sometimes I get the one up :) It's fun being a Comic Book Mom!
