When a brilliant young boy named Denny solves the most perplexing puzzle in the history of mankind, he and his caretaker sister, Jenna, are transported to the fantastic land of Gossamyr, where math is magic.
In a world full of fairies, rogue assassins and magic, an aptitude for math can give great power but can also come with a huge burst of trouble.
Denny's unique gifts allow him to solve theorems (which are spells in Gossamyr,) but his common sense isn't as quite developed. Thankfully, he finds a few allies along his journey to help defend him against the dark forces clamoring to use his power for evil.
Finding Gossamyr: Volume 1 is a great blend of fantasy and sci-fi packaged in a beautifully illustrated graphic novel. (In fact, you could easily spend as much time admiring the artwork as you do enjoying the clever story.)
I found the characters in Finding Gossamyr have a surprising level of depth for a young adult graphic novel and the plot is fast-paced and intriguing, making this a great read for both children and adults. Boys and girls will equally enjoy reading this interesting comic and may even develop a new appreciation for math (a terrific reason to grab a copy!)
The hardcover edition of Finding Gossamyr collects the first volume of this critically acclaimed series, and is packed with 152-pages of painted story, concept art, guest artist gallery, an illustrated map of the world of Gossamyr, and an exclusive short story created just for this edition.
