When science, humor and cartoons come together, it's a glorious day, indeed!
Though the day isn't turning out to be as stellar for Wilmer Dooley, the aspiring young scientist of The Contagious Colors of Mumpley Middle School, who is about to tackle a mysterious illness and the annoying challenges of 6th grade like winning the science medal and talking to girls.
My comic book sons (ages 10 and 12) loved the antics of Wilmer Dooley and friends. The topics covered and clever illustrations throughout sparks a lot of interesting scientific discussions in our home, along with plenty of laughter.
"The Contagious Colors of Mumpley Middle School" is a rollicking read ideal for any middle-schooler or middle-schooler to-be. As a parent, it's a treat to find a book that engages your children on a humorous level while offering educational, inspirational and intriguing content, as well.
About The Book a.k.a. book jacket copy:
If there’s one important thing Wilmer Dooley’s dad always says, it’s this:
“Where are my car keys?”
Okay, maybe not that. He also says:
“Observe!”
Wilmer has always known that the greatest science comes from the keenest observations. So when he observes his classmates looking a little green…and orange...and chartreuse-fuchsia polka-dotted...he knows that it’s up to him to find the cause of this mysterious illness—and the cure.
But with his arch nemesis, Claudius Dill, hot on his heels; the eagle-eyed biology teacher, Mrs. Padgett, determined to thwart his plans; and a host of fluorescent classmates bouncing off the walls at increasingly dangerous speeds, can Wilmer prove he has what it takes to save the sixth grade from a colorful demise before it’s too late?

Charlotte's Web was the best book. @sweetsaver_68
ReplyDeleteI did not have a favorite book because I read constantly but my favorite author was definitely Beverly Cleary. I read every book she wrote.
ReplyDeleteIs there such a thing as a favorite memory from middle school? It seemed like one drama after another. I loved The Box Car Children books in elementary.
ReplyDeleteThat's true Grace, there may not be that many during that drama-filled time LOL
DeleteMy middle school books were all about romance! I read Barbara Cartland novels! There! I said it!!
