Majority of British Adults Pick Batmobile as Best Vehicle and Other Stuff Nerds Like To Debate

As Ladbrokes is famous for it's online betting and casino games, we'll wager this is how it went down....

Somewhere deep in the bowels of the computer programming department two bored blokes started debating over who the toughest superhero was.  After a row of insults too many and a few wasted threats of violence that would never materialize because it would mean prying themselves from the hypnotic glare of their LED screens... cell phones across London started chirping as the Calvary was called in to settle whether the Hulk could kick Ironman's buttocks in combat. And, low, before you know what hit the comic-shit-fan, 1000 British folks chimed in on all aspects of who has the coolest superhero toys, costumes, and overall geek appeal.

At least that's how we like to imagine it happened.

It's far less interesting to think that Ladbrokes conducted a survey on an assorted array of (perhaps useless) opinions related to superhero culture, soliciting 1000 random British folks.

It just is.

Regardless, the survey uncovered fairly pointless, but none-the-less interesting tidbits guaranteed to spark a little controversy in nerd-dom arenas everywhere.  The next time you want to start a bit of juicy conversation after a rousing game of World of Warcraft, cite these random facts to see what reaction you get:

  • 58% of people surveyed preferred Marvel over DC

  • Nearly half the people surveyed chose Hulk or Batman as the toughest superhero, trumping Iron Man and Spiderman.  (Interestingly, Superman was exempted.)
  • 24.8% (the majority) feel that The Joker is the toughest villain ever.

  • The award for worst superhero disguise goes to Superman.  46.7% just aren't buying into the glasses and quiff.

  • Male and female respondents agreed that Catwoman was the worst superhero film ever.
  • However, 30% of female respondents still want to be Catwoman. 25% chose Wonder Woman. 5% of male respondents chose to be Wonder Woman, too.

  • Lastly, as we hinted in the title, 61% chose the Batmobile as their all-time best superhero vehicle.

What's wrong with the other 39%, we wonder...

And is that classic Batmobile?  Or one of the spiffed up movie versions...

What's your take?  Do you agree or disagree with the majority in Ladbrokes survey findings?
