Drawing Your Life

Drawing Your Life
I like to doodle, but I'd never profess to be an artist.  Mainly, I simply scribble and draw simple shapes on scrap papers, my calendar, or the white board on our refrigerator (which gets a real workout when I'm on the phone.)

I hadn't really thought about doodling the elements of my life, though... but it's really quite a clever and enjoyable concept.

"Drawing Your Life: Learning to See, Record and Appreciate Life's Small Joys" by Michael Nobbs encourages readers to examine, record, and discover the meaning and joy in the mundane objects of their lives.

Prompts and ideas guide the user to begin a lifelong journey by following the author's instructions or to follow a more rebellious path by making up their own.  Mistakes are appreciated and the sky is the limit for how you would like to add or detract from this portable studio.  You can start in the middle, tear out the pages, fold, crease and scribble drawings on pages to your personal heart's desire.

Author Michael Nobbs' personal philosophy of "sustainable creativity" blossoms throughout the pages.  His advice is to work little and often, be kind to yourself and accept your limitations, and recognize and appreciate your achievements.

It's a rather refreshing and liberating experience to follow this mantra and explore new creative ways of self-expression.

Perhaps you'll gain a bit of insight or have a full blown epiphany of revelation - either way and no matter the path you wonder, in the end, you will have an extraordinary record of the adventure.
