Comic Book Strip Bookmark #Craft

This is a very simple craft idea inspired by one I found in the book Trash-to-Treasure Papermaking (a really cool guide that details a variety of way to make recycled paper from old comics, junk mail, and even bottle labels.)

Your little superheroes can use the bookmarks to mark their own book pages or make sets as creative gift for relatives, teachers, or friends.

Materials needed:

Newspaper Comic Book Strip Panel
Needle and Thread
Double-sided Tape
Paperclip
Embellishments (small stickers, brads, buttons, etc.)

Simply cut a cartoon panel strip from the newspaper, then fold in accordion style.

Knot one end of a thread and use needle to string thread through the center of the accordion fold, then knot the other end.  Snip excess

Tape or staple each end of the accordion fold paper together to form a circle.  Tape the paper clip to the back of the circle (you can also stitch the paper clip on using needle and thread if you would prefer a more secure hold.)  Attach a bead, sticker, brad and paper circle, button, or other embellishment to the front of the paperclip bookmark to add pizzazz.
