Hot Toys for 2012: NanoBlock #Giveaway

Nanoblock Violin
Say hello to my little violin!
My little superheroes never tire of building.  From the day they stacked their first brick, it's been non-stop toy construction.  Likely you can relate, and just as likely, like me, you encourage this activity for it's creative and educational aspects.

Or simply because it's just plain fun and you like to build stuff with them.

With all this construction enthusiasm comes great responsibility to keep the challenge of the construct thriving.  Which brings us to our recent discover of Nanoblock...

Nanoblock is a mico-sized building block system with its smallest piece being a mere 4mmX4mmX5mm that allows you to build in greater detail than ever before.

(Which also means you don't just have little construction pieces to step on in the wee hours of the morning, but micro-mini teeny-weeny pieces, as well.  However, you won't care because these sets are really chock full of awesomeness. Read on...)

Our first go-round with Nanoblock was to put together the Violin from the Instruments series.  This miniature scale offers the ability to create fine details including a violin bow with mock strings that clearly resemble the real thing.

Yep, there's more than 180 little pieces here.

The blocks are sturdy- exactly what you would expect a quality plastic construction block to be and relatively easy to snap together or unsnap if you made a mistake.

Recommended age set is 8 and up and level of difficulty rated as a 2 (on a scale of 1 to 5.)  I'd say that's fairly spot-on as my 12 year-old was able to assemble without help from an adult and my 10 year-old needed very little assistance from his older brother.

I should also mention that construction of this set is not speedy, which is a benefit if you are seeking some productive down time where you do not have to worry about why the kids got so quiet.

When finished, the first thing I heard was a chime of "What else do they have? Can we get more?" a,k.a. the ultimate seal of approval.  Overall, Comic Book Mom thumbs up for this innovative, creative specialty construction toy.
