| Our very first origami Yoda constructed. |
For those not familiar with The Strange Case of Origami Yoda, it's a children's book (recommended for grades 3-6) that recounts the story of Dwight who talks to his classmates via an origami finger puppet of Yoda. Sounds a bit strange, and it is, but in a very clever, fun, engaging Hardy Boys meets Star Wars geeky-nerd-awesomeness kind-of way.
The second book in the series, Darth Paper Strikes Back continues the plight of Dwight who dukes things out with fellow classmate Harvey and his Darth Paper puppet. Now, I've just learned the skippy-jedi-goodness will continue with a third edition, The Secret of the Fortune Wookiee releasing August 7 and yes, I will be in line to get myself (err... I mean my superhero boys) a copy. It's always a happy day when a good book series continues!
The Secret of the Fortune Wookiee has our loveable Dwight attending Tippett Academy this semester, the kids of McQuarrie Middle School are on their own—no Origami Yoda to give advice and help them navigate the treacherous waters of middle school.
Do (you) your little superheroes dig Star Wars origami, too?
PS: Even if you haven't read this series, there's plenty of instructions for Star Wars origami characters and space ships abound on the inet.
