What is Articulated Comic Book Art?

My Comic Book Boys and I (okay, so I've been doing this before they were born, too...) often stage action figures, Lego (remember the special Star Wars rock band?) and whatever else suits us like Hot Wheels.  And yes, at one stage in my life, I even made Barbie Doll scenes (no comments about whether I still do...)

Little did I know that there's actually an art form to this quirky passion (sometimes I do live under a comic book rock.)

In particular, I just learned of Articulated Comic Book Art, which entails emulating scenes from comic book material and staging elaborate recreations in diorama-like fashion.  Love it!

And yes, of course, this will now be on our summer art activity list of projects to complete...

Props to Jawiin for the visual enlightenment:

  1. This would be so fun. I'm going to have to go borrow some figures from my grandson. :)

  2. Check out the ACBA Facebook group page! Boog Nice is the person who actually coined this particular term and it works perfectly! Also search ACBA on youtube and you'll find some great stuff!
