There are events in your life where you must make a snap decision to dive in and go for it, regardless of how goofy, how slimy, how gross, or how nose-deep you may find yourself in a pile (of rather good tasting) whip cream, on stage, on vacation, in front of a palooza of strangers regaling in your every silly move.
Yes friends, this is the stuff fluffy-good-crazy-fun moments are made of. This is the draw of the adventure the people at the Nick Hotel have created in the Double Dare LIVE Show... the experience my superhero sons begged to be a part of... the experience I (secretly was happy to) enter our family in... and the experience that ultimately ended with a big gooshy humble pie in the face!
Our family is not on some exclusive list for pie-roaring fun events: the cool thing is everyone has a chance to experience Studio Nick's modernized LIVE Double Dare which combines the exhilaration of the Original Double Dare television show with new twists and turns, provided by state-of-the-art technology, plus updated content incorporating pop culture at the Nick Hotel.
Two teams of four (eight lucky contestants) compete against the clock for a chance to compete in the famous final Double Dare Obstacle course... or for a consolation prize (aka for us, a sweet pie in the face.) This zany event tests your wits, endurance, and your true love of Nickelodeon Slime.
How do you get in on the fun? First, take a memorable trip to Nickelodeon Suites Resort where you'll find oodles of Spongy fun including daily mass slimings, a cool water-park, character dinners, interactive daily shows, and Double Dare LIVE (among a plethura of other amazing activities - it's Nickelodeon nirvana for kids - and adults.)
Second, (big-good tip coming up,) find out when the all call for Double Dare LIVE contestants will be and hurry over to customer relations to get your name in along with a clever description of why your team will be a great fit for the game show. (And hence, the tip: make sure your team description rocks! Be creative. The cast tends to read each one and select the best ones based on content.)
Third, cross your fingers, toes, elbows and so on... wait for it... wait for it... show up at the announcements and jump for joy when your name is selected OR jump for other's joy when their name is and then go watch them get covered in goo at the live show and cheer wildly when they get pie-faced! (You simply cannot go wrong. We sat in both the audience and on stage and they were equally wild, highly-memorable experiences.)

Disclosure: Yep, we got a perk from Nickelodeon Suites Resort in exchange for honest reviews of our experience. We got on Double Dare LIVE by our own volition, though, and all thoughts and opinions are certainly are memories to keep and share. You already know, if I didn't love it, it would be on Comic Book Mom.

What a fun experience for the entire family. I can imagine how much your sons enjoyed it by the look on their faces! Of course, it looks like you are having a good time too!
ReplyDeleteIt was hard not to have a good time... after the initial nervousness, it went quickly and I mostly remember laughing, laughing, laughing :)
DeleteOooohhh...I am sooooo jealous!! I would have LOVED to go to this when I was younger. My boy is a bit too young, but hopefully some day!!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely keep it in mind, the hotel is like crazy fun for any age.
DeleteThis looks like so much fun!!! :D Was the pie good?
ReplyDeleteThe pie was actually amazingly good! Was sort of like whip cream crossed with an Oreo center.
DeleteYou are so brave and I'm so glad your family had the opportunity for this experience. I think the hotel sounds so fun and will check it out for future trips.
ReplyDeleteThanks Grace... easy to be brave for your kids. The boys were so gung-ho to try out for this, I could hardly say no. My oldest wound up being on stage for a daytime poolside challenge, too. They certainly ate the fun up!
DeleteThis is so cool!! Looks like you had a blast!
ReplyDeleteThanks Krystle... we certainly did! It's actually super difficult not to have a great time at the Nick Hotel... very Spongy! :)
DeleteI remember watching that show as a kid and I wanted to be on there SOOOOOO bad! My sister and I used to play along in the living room as though we were actually there!
ReplyDeleteI would do anything to be slimed, even as a 30 year old!

We just stayed there 9/07/12-9/09/12 My sons and I played and thankfully did not have to put pie in our eye... Running the obstacle course was a childhood dream come true for me.
