Dark Shadows Loom Upon Us #darkshadows

Blatantly campy, delightfully eerie, and overly quirky... well, what else would you expect from director Tim Burton (Alice in Wonderland/Edward Scissorhands/The Nightmare Before Christmas) ... oh yeh, you might also expect Johnny Depp (Pirates of the Caribbean/Alice in Wonderland/Edward Scissorhands) to showcase his unconventional-way-out and freakishly talented portrayal of an odd character.

You won't be disappointed, Depp appears in peculiar fashion as Barnabas, the cursed immortal master of Collinwood Manor.  "Dark Shadows" marks Depp's eighth collaboration with director Burton.

The film is loosely based on the original ABC daytime series that aired 1966-1971.  Tim Burton He was one the series' aficionados.

"The show had a specific vibe," says Burton. "It was a soap opera, but with a weird, supernatural undercurrent."

In bringing "Dark Shadows" to the big screen, Burton was keen to retain the spirit of the show, while recognizing "it's a hard thing to try to capture."
