Like many, my fan affair with a galaxy far, far away began in 1977 when my awesome big brother took me to see "Star Wars." At my very young age, this film is the first that led me to a life-long love of scifi and movie theater magic.Over the years this very same cool brother designed many things for me both comic book and Star Wars related, but my very favorite, to this day, is a set of Star Wars characters he created from sea shells we found while visiting my grandmother's house (in Florida.)
My grandmother was quite handy with crafts a glue gun and my brother very artistic. The result (as you can see) is a one-of-a-kind magical set I'll certainly always treasure.
Both these very positive influences in my life helped mold me into the Star-Wars-comic-book-sci-fi-DIY-craft-loving geek I am today. Though I'm not nearly as artistic as my brother, I am as big a fan of all things comic book, pop culture, and scifi as he is (though I have to admit, he's an even bigger comic book nerd than I... but I have him beat in the Star Wars and pop culture departments.)
Thanks to my grandmother, I'm more than handy with a glue-gun, sewing machine craft table, and can whip up a pretty darn good meal in the kitchen. She's certainly the person I think of every time I post to Comic Book Crafts or create a recipe on Rural Mom.
