Hunger Games "District 12" is up for Auction #Hungergames

"When I was younger, I scared my mother to death, the things I would blurt out about District 12..."

Yes, Hunger Games fans, you read the post title right... on June 5, District 12 will be auctioned off via sealed bid through Profiles in History (Syfy.)

Profiles in History run by Joe Maddalena (fan of Comic Book Moms everywhere,) announced that it has acquired the Henry River Mill Village property, known to all as “District 12” from the box office blockbuster The Hunger Games. Penny-pinches be aware, though, this coveted property is valued at over 1.2 million.

“District 12” is in reality the Henry River Mill Village, a 1920s, 72-acre abandoned mill town located in North Carolina. The property exists exactly as it is seen in the film, from the bakery owned by Peeta Mellark’s family to the house where Katniss Everdeen and her sister Prim lived. It is all there.

Would you buy "District 12"?  How cool and kinda eerie, too, would it be to live there?  Personally, I think the smart and fun move would be to turn it into some kind of Hunger Games hangout for fans.

Catch the action Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at 10PM PDT on Syfy’s hit show Hollywood Treasure.

  1. Oh my gosh! This is amazing, I had no idea it was a real town from the 20's I always thought it was a movie set. As huge HG fans at my house, I'll be keeping an eye out on June 5 to see how it goes. Thanks for sharing!
